The present study aimed to determine the level of physicians’ familiarity and investigate the factors affecting the acceptance of mobile health from the viewpoint of physicians working in educational hospitals of Zahedan University of Medical Sciences.Method: A cross-sectional study was carried out in Zahedan University of Medical Sciences in the southeast of Iran in 2016. The statistical population included all physicians working in five University Teaching Hospitals (n=150). In this study, systematic random sampling was used. A validated questionnaire, prepared based on the variables of Technology Acceptance Model 2 and models, was used for data collection. To analyze the data, we used descriptive and analytical statistics (Confirmatory Factor Analysis, linear and multiple regression). Results: Most of the respondents (112, or 74.4%) were female and 84 of them (56%) were less than 30 years old. All of the physicians (specialist and general physician) used Smartphones. The score of perceived usefulness, behavioral intention, perceived enjoyment, subjective norm, perceived ease of use, image, volunteering, and objective usability constructs were higher than the average baseline, representing the acceptance of mobile phone by them. The relationship of all the constructs with each other towards the attitudinal and behavioral objectives of the mobile health services acceptance was significant (P< 0.05). However, demonstrability construct had no correlation with perceived usefulness (P>0.05).Conclusion: The results of this study provide useful information to health managers and policymakers so that they can take steps to improve the quality of services using modern technologies. Plans can also be made by considering the factors as behavioral acceptance of mobile health and other effective factors to increase the willingness to use it.Keywords: Mobile Health, Physician, Acceptance }, keywords = {}, url = {https://jhmi.sums.ac.ir/article_42704.html}, eprint = {https://jhmi.sums.ac.ir/article_42704_be72720a2566673331273608f48f2d91.pdf} } @article { author = {Maher, Mohammad Hadi and Fakhar, Mohammad Sadegh and Karimi, Zohreh}, title = {The relationship between budget emphasis, budget planning models and performance}, journal = {Health Management & Information Science}, volume = {5}, number = {1}, pages = {16-20}, year = {2018}, publisher = {Shiraz University of Medical Sciences}, issn = {2783-302X}, eissn = {2783-302X}, doi = {}, abstract = { Introduction: In order to provide a new approach about the budget planning models, this study examined the relationship between budget emphasis, budget planning models and performance of Fars Province University of Medical Sciences.Method: This research is a survey-descriptive study on the purpose and its method. The participants of this research included the financial experts in Shiraz University of Medical Sciences (including the accountants) in 2016. The sample size consisted of 250 individuals and the method of sampling used was available sampling. The questionnaire of Kang et al. (2013), after some modifications, was used to gather the data. To evaluate the reliability of the questionnaire, we used Cronbach’s Alpha and split-half method. The measurement tools used in the study were reliable and none of the questions was removed. Finally, for analysis of the data, correlation coefficient and regression were applied using SPSS Software Version 23.Results: The results of the study indicated there was a significant relationship between budget emphasis and strategy distinct from budget planning models as well as between strategy distinct from budget emphasis, budget planning models, organizational performance, management performance and budgetary satisfaction. A positive and meaningful relationship among budget planning models and organizational performance, management performance and budgetary satisfaction was found. Conclusion: Based on the research findings, it is necessary to consider the budget concepts, the importance of budgeting, and budgetary participation of the employees and financial managers for improving organizational performance. Keywords: Budget planning models, budget emphasis, distinctive strategy, budgetary satisfaction, organizational performance}, keywords = {}, url = {https://jhmi.sums.ac.ir/article_42705.html}, eprint = {https://jhmi.sums.ac.ir/article_42705_245c02803ac2bc4c748acc0ccd5981d2.pdf} } @article { author = {Firouraghi, Neda and Ezzatzadegan Jahromi, Shahrokh and Sami, Ashkan and Morvaridi, Mohamad Reza and Sharifian, Roxana}, title = {Data Quality Assessment and Recommendations to Improve the Quality of Hemodialysis Database}, journal = {Health Management & Information Science}, volume = {5}, number = {1}, pages = {21-26}, year = {2018}, publisher = {Shiraz University of Medical Sciences}, issn = {2783-302X}, eissn = {2783-302X}, doi = {}, abstract = {Introduction: Since clinical data contain abnormalities, quality assessment and reporting of data errors are necessary. Data quality analysis consists of developing strategies, making recommendations to avoid future errors and improving the quality of data entry by identifying error types and their causes. Therefore, this approach can be extremely useful to improve the quality of the databases. The aim of this study was to analyze hemodialysis (HD) patients’ data in order to improve the quality of data entry and avoid future errors.Method: The study was done on Shiraz University of Medical Sciences HD database in 2015. The database consists of 2367 patients who had at least 12 months follow up (22.34±11.52 months) in 2012-2014. Duplicated data were removed; outliers were detected based on statistical methods, expert opinion and the relationship between variables; then, the missing values were handled in 72 variables by using IBM SPSS Statistics 22 in order to improve the quality of the database. According to the results, some recommendations were given to improve the data entry process. Results: The variables had outliers in the range of 0-9.28 percent. Seven variables had missing values over 20 percent and in the others they were between 0 and 19.73 percent. The majority of missing values belong to serum alkaline phosphatase, uric acid, high and low density lipoprotein, total iron binding capacity, hepatitis B surface antibody titer, and parathyroid hormone. The variables with displacement (the values of two or more variables were recorded in the wrong attribute) were weight, serum creatinine, blood urea nitrogen, systolic and diastolic blood pressure. These variables may lead to decreased data quality. Conclusion: According to the results and expert opinion, applying some data entry principles, such as defining ranges of values, using the relationship between hemodialysis features, developing alert systems about empty or duplicated data and entering directly HD data or lab results into the database can improve the data quality drastically. Experts' opinion in detecting outliers as a complement to statistical methods can have an effective role in detection of real outliers. For the analysis of HD databases, the relationship between the variables because of their effect on the quality should be focused more to improve the quality of the database. Keywords: Database, Data entry, Hemodialysis, Data Quality, Outliers, Missing values}, keywords = {}, url = {https://jhmi.sums.ac.ir/article_42706.html}, eprint = {https://jhmi.sums.ac.ir/article_42706_6e3fb2dc6ed9246e64c48d6292c5c13b.pdf} } @article { author = {Mooghali, Alireza and Rajabi, Ahmad and Khalili, Roya and Fazelzadeh, Omid and Nabeiei, Parisa}, title = {Investigating the obstacles and difficulties of using the potentials of medical tourism in Shiraz hospitals}, journal = {Health Management & Information Science}, volume = {5}, number = {1}, pages = {27-32}, year = {2018}, publisher = {Shiraz University of Medical Sciences}, issn = {2783-302X}, eissn = {2783-302X}, doi = {}, abstract = { Introduction: The tourism industry is one of the greatest professions in the world and the governments have considered it as an important activity to achieve their macroeconomics objectives. One of the branches of this industry is medical tourism. Considering the importance of this issue, this study investigated the obstacles and problems of medical tourism with an adaptive approach between public and private hospitals.Method: This study was cross-sectional, descriptive and analytical. In this study, two tools of checklists and questionnaires in three areas of financial infrastructure, skilled manpower and facilities were used to collect the data. The study population included all senior hospital executives (chairman, manager, matron, the receptionist, clinical supervisor) of 14 private hospitals and six governmental hospitals in Shiraz that admit tourists. Results: A total number of 94 subjects participated in the study, of whom 54 (57%) were female and 38 (43%) were male with a mean age of 47 years and 22.5 years of work experience. The results of the checklist showed that seven private hospitals (50%) and four public hospitals (67%) had lack of infrastructure. There are significant differences in the number of medical tourists’ admission between private and public hospitals (P=0.001). The results did not show a significant difference between the views of senior executives in private and public hospitals on the effects of these three infrastructures, human resources, financial facilities and equipment on more tourists’ attraction (P=0.077 and P=0.416 and P=0.355).Conclusion: According to the results, admitting foreign patients more frequently occurs in private hospitals due to the presence of famous physicians. It seems that with proper collaboration of some organizations and establishment of health tourism office in these hospitals, including Cultural Heritage and Handicrafts and Tourism, Shiraz University of Medical Sciences and the Governor, we can solve the problem of Shiraz low entry of foreign medical tourists to the public hospitals, which is followed by foreign exchange, employment, satisfaction and touted by foreign patients in their own countries, as well. Keywords: Database, Medical tourism, Hospitals, Managers, Organization}, keywords = {}, url = {https://jhmi.sums.ac.ir/article_42707.html}, eprint = {https://jhmi.sums.ac.ir/article_42707_7c2c2d50a2f28f35dc8f6d1005bb5610.pdf} } @article { author = {Ashrafi-rizi, Hasan and Zarmehr, Fatemeh}, title = {The Expected Profit of Health Research: A Suggestion}, journal = {Health Management & Information Science}, volume = {5}, number = {1}, pages = {33-34}, year = {2018}, publisher = {Shiraz University of Medical Sciences}, issn = {2783-302X}, eissn = {2783-302X}, doi = {}, abstract = {The process of science production, especially in the health field, is sensitive, time-consuming, and costly (1-2).
